FAQs

Q.  Why should I choose Greg Unseth Painting & Exteriors for my home improvement project?

A.  There are many reasons why we stand out from the competition.  We are a family owned and operated, local business whom has served the residents of Colorado since 1981.  Our over 13,000 customers will tell you that not only do we provide a top quality product at a fair price, but that our company mission to treat each customers home like it is our own home is not just an empty promise.  Every employee from our labor force to top management are competant and caring, and we back all of our products and services with the best warranties in the business.

Q.  What are your warranties and are they transferable?

A.  We offer three warranties for exterior painting depending on which paint you choose.  The options include our entry level package which includes a 5 Year Labor and Material Warranty, an upgraded option with a 25 Year Paint & 7 Year Labor Warranty, and our premium package includes a Lifetime Paint & 8 Year Labor Warranty.  If you own a natural wood home, our solid acrylic stains include a 3 Year Labor & Material Warranty.

Every window and patio door we install includes a factory backed, Limited Lifetime Warranty, which includes glass breakage.  If anything happens to one of your windows while you own the home, it will be either repaired or replaced (excluding screen material).  Our window warranties are transeferable on a pro-rated basis to the next homeowner for 30 years, and our labor warranties on your exterior paint or stain job will be honored as well.

Our stucco services are backed with a full 10 Year Labor and Material Warranty, covering cracking, chipping, staining, and fade.

Q.  Do you offer warranties for interior painting?

A.  We do not write warranties on interior painting, as some homeowners are just too hard on their walls and trim.  However, we do guarantee coverage with the best products available at the time of the project which will give the typical homeowner years of enjoyment before needing a new coating.

Q.  What do you consider prep work?

A.  Preparation is the most important part of the painting process.  We will powerwash if needed, scrape all loose, peeling paint, prime coat all exposed wood and siding surfaces, and fill all holes, joints, and seams on the siding, trim, doors, and windows with a top quality caulking.  We mask and cover all windows, fixtures, flatwork, and landscaping prior to applying the topcoat to insure a clean finished product, and remove all paint chips and trash upon completion of the job.

Q.  How about interior prep?

A.  We move and cover all furniture, drape flooring, remove switch plate covers, fill all holes, caulk windows and trim, and repair any minor drywall damage.  At completion of the project we replace all furniture to its original position and remove all trash.

Q.  How do you apply the paint topcoat?

A.  Finish strategy will be determined on a per job basis.  Most homes will be a cross-spray application for larger body areas and brush/roll application for trim, interior, and smaller areas.  No matter what application is chosen, we assure a thick, even topcoat of the best products available.

Q.  What are the benefits of 100% Acrylic paints?

A.  We use only 100% acrylic paints for several reasons.  Acrylic latex is flexible so it will move and breathe with the constant contraction and expansion of your homes surfaces due to temperature changes.  Also, acrylics are the most fade resistant coverings available, which is very important with Colorado's intense UV exposure.

Q.  Can you paint my home in the winter?

A.  Absolutely.  Our paints are cold temp rated to 35 degrees, allowing us to paint on many winter days.  And as an incentive, we usually will run deeper discounts during the winter months!

Q.  Why should I choose Greg Unseth Painting & Exteriors when shopping for replacement windows and doors?

A.  As Alside Windows #1 retailer in the Southern Colorado market, we have been rewarded with an exclusive, top quality replacement window, The Millennium Window.  Our 100% virgin vinyl window is a beautiful and super functional option for the most discriminating buyer.  The Millennium is a triple pane, Energy Star rated window, and one of the only R5 rated windows available in the market today.

Q.  Why is factory install so important when looking at replacement windows?

A.  Our partnership with Alside allows us to sell a top quality product backed by one of the largest window manufacturers in the world.  All of our windows and doors are installed by Alside factory trained installers.  These guys work with Alside products everyday.  Also, if one of our homeowners ever have a warranty issue with one of our windows, there will be no bickering between a sub-contracted installer and the window manufacturer on whose fault the failure is.  Fact is, most window problems are due to a window being installed improperly.  If our windows fail, the manufacturer also performed the install insuring a quick and hassle free fix to the problem.

Q.  Tell me about your workforce.

A.  This is a source of great pride for our company.  We have always realized that our company is only as good as our people.  Experience and professionalism is a must when we hire, however we always look for deeper qualities such as pride of work and individuals whom buy into our concept of being the best home improvement company we can be.  We have also taken an alternative approach, contrary to many in our industry, in that all of our employees are American citizens...we never hire undocumented workers.  Communication between our customers and our workforce is very important, and we feel a moral obligation as a standard bearer in our industry to employ tax paying, American citizens.

Q.  Are you insured?

A.  Yes, we carry full Liability and Workman's Compensation insurance.  If an accident occurs on your project, either to our workers or your home, we are covered.

Q.  What are your payment terms?

A.  No money down on painting, gutters, tile, and repair projects.  50% down/ 50% upon completion on replacement windows and doors, fencing, decks, and garage doors.  25% down/ 75% upon completion on stucco projects.  We accept cash, check, Visa, Mastercard, and Discover.  We also offer in house, no credit check financing on paint projects, and bank financing with approved credit.
